NCC Education are pleased to share the following exciting updates from two of our well-established university partners.
Firstly, the Office for Students (OfS) has granted the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) final approval to change its name to the University of Lancashire.
By changing the university’s name, the university hopes to highlight the fact that it is a university that operates predominantly across the county of Lancashire in the United Kingdom.
The change will need to be incremental over the coming year, which means that September 2025 will be the official launch of the University of Lancashire. Therefore, for students joining the Spring 2025 intake of the BSc (Hons) Business Computing and Information Systems or the BSc (Hons) Cyber Security & Networking top-up programmes, they will receive welcome letters and documentation including the current university name (University of Central Lancashire).
Equally, please note that the University of Bolton was also granted approval by the OfS to officially change its name to the University of Greater Manchester.
For any students joining or graduating from the BSc (Hons) Business Management top-up programme or the BEng (Hons) Software Engineering top-up programme in 2025, delivered by Western International College Online (WINC), they will now graduate from the University of Greater Manchester. This is still the case for any students who received offer letters in 2024 from the University of Bolton to start in 2025. Please note that these offer letters remain valid and the change of name will not affect this.
As you may be aware, the change of name of such establishments is a monumental task and will therefore take some time, requiring updates to marketing materials, logos, websites and links. NCC Education await further instruction and formal branding guidelines from our strategic partners and we will send out further information as soon as possible.
Please rest assured that these changes will have no impact to the way that the universities operate or to the partnership agreements with NCC Education.
